I refuse to give up on my summer updates, even if it is nearly October. I simply refuse. This summer we took a trip to our family cabin, and by family cabin I mean.... we are lucky enough to be related to the real owners who were kind and generous enough to share with us not once, but twice this summer. Pure bliss.
Just the other night when Zoey was having a hard time falling asleep I said to her, "Think of your favorite place on earth...", "That's easy," she said, "the Lake...". I couldn't agree more.
There is just something about this magical place that warms my heart and soul. These photos certainly won't do it justice.

What made this trip even better is that we got to spend it with the cousins! Love these crazy kids!

Anyone who follows Zolirew, or our lives at all, knows that Drew tends to be terrified of the water...especially at the Lake. It was at the Lake where Drew fell off the dock (sans life jacket - yes, terrible parenting) and plunged to the bottom where his father quickly rescued him. Scary. Scary for him. Scary for us. But, in this family, you have to get back in the saddle where water is concerned...so we worked on baby steps with him all summer long. His facial expression here is classic - entirely horrified to be even near the water. We worked through it. By the end of our second week at the Lake, he was willing to let me hold him in the water. What a brave guy!

And Zo caught her first fish on her own... Livy cried and cried as Uncle Aaron gave it a swift thwack on the head. Such a tender soul, that one. It was dinner that night - for Zoey. She refused to share, but I hear it was good.

Such little readers. Love it!

My little water baby could live here...or near any body of water, really.

No trip to the Lake is complete without a wild ride on the "death biscuit" - made even more thrilling if Uncle Aaron (and Drew) are behind the wheel. Ah!
